Overview

A young student during the 90s decides to visit her mum in Wales, excited about the prospect of spending time together, as she has some significant news to announce. However, during her stay, she stumbles upon an old box tucked away in the attic, filled with mysterious letters and photographs that unveil a family secret long buried in the past. As she delves deeper into the contents, she uncovers hidden relationships and untold stories that will change their lives forever, forcing her to reevaluate everything she thought she knew about her family’s history and her own identity.

Sofia Sotiria Mavrou – I love acting on film and stage, where I can immerse myself in diverse characters and stories that evoke deep emotions. My passion for storytelling extends beyond acting, as I am also interested in making films that resonate with audiences. This is my directorial debut, a project that I hold close to my heart, and I am excited to share my vision with the world. Throughout my career, I have dedicated the last 15 years to working as a careers adviser in secondary schools, helping students navigate their future paths and discover their passions, which has enriched my perspective on both performance and direction.
In this endeavor, I strive to blend my experiences from the advice office with the creativity of the film industry, aiming to create narratives that inspire and empower others.

Director’s Statement

This is my directorial debut. I have also written and produced the film. I got inspired by a family friend who is of Italian origin. Her dad came to Wales during the Second World War as an Italian prisoner.
